SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference has named its Women's Basketball Player of the Week for January 26, 2015.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - ELLE TINKLE, JR., G - GONZAGA
Junior guard Elle Tinkle totaled 28 points in two big road wins for Gonzaga at Saint Mary's and Pacific. The victories kept the Zags on top of the West Coast Conference standings, and unbeaten at the midway point of WCC play. Tinkle averaged nearly a double-double in the wins. She pulled down 18 rebounds. Tinkle made 10 of her 20 attempts from the field, 3-of-6 from behind-the-arc, and 5-of-7 from the free-throw line. She added eight assists, four steals, and three blocks.
In Thursday's win at Saint Mary's, Tinkle scored 13 points and had seven rebounds. She also had three blocks. Saturday at Pacific, the junior scored 15 on 5-for-9 shooting from the field. Tinkle is now averaging 11.9 points per game, and 16.9 in conference play. She is shooting 53 percent from the field in conference action.
