SPOKANE, Wash. - Tonight's West Coast Conference women's basketball game between Gonzaga University and Saint Mary's College will go on as scheduled.
Game time is 7 p.m. at the McCarthey Athletic Center.
"Saint Mary's arrived in town Wednesday, and since both teams are here and ready to play we see no reason to cancel the game," Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said. "We realize the weather conditions are not ideal and we encourage our fans to travel safely."
The Bulldogs are also scheduled to meet Santa Clara University Saturday at 2 p.m. at the McCarthey Athletic Center, and Roth said that game will be dealt with on a day-to-day basis. The Broncos are at the University of Portland Thursday night.
"We're hopeful Santa Clara will be able to travel to Spokane, but we know the possibility exists with the weather conditions that travel could be interrupted, just as it was for the Portland men last weekend," Roth said. "At this point Saturday's game is also on as scheduled."
Portland's men were unable to arrive in Spokane last Sunday and flew in on game day Monday for their contest in the McCarthey Athletic Center.
Gonzaga officials canceled classes Thursday because of the overnight storm that dropped approximately five more inches of snow on the area.
