MALIBU, Calif. -
The Pepperdine women's basketball team is riding a three-game win streak heading into the final homestand of the season. The Waves will host the San Francisco Dons Thursday night at 7 p.m. PT before taking on West Coast Conference (WCC) co-leader San Diego. Tip against the Toreros is scheduled for 2 p.m.
After handing Gonzaga its first conference loss of the season and routing Portland, freshman Teena Wickett picked up the second WCC Player of the Week accolade.
In each of Pepperdine's last three victories, the Waves have topped the 70-point mark. It is the first time under head coach Julie Rousseau that Pepperdine has accomplished such a feat.
San Francisco's lone league win came on Jan. 13 when it bettered Pepperdine 77-65 after outscoring the Waves 57-36 in the second half. The Waves had their 13-game win streak over San Diego halted in the first meeting between the two teams earlier this season. The Toreros recovered from down 12 over the final 9:23 for the two-point 73-71 victory.
The final home game of the season is set for Sat., Feb. 17 when Pepperdine hosts cross-town rival Loyola Marymount at 5 p.m.
