Portland freshman Annika Holopainen is WCC Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Portland freshman Annika Holopainen is the WCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Holopainen averaged 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last week for the Pilots.

ANNIKA HOLOPAINEN, FR., F, PORTLAND

Holopainen averaged 15.5 points per game, shot 57.1 percent from the field and averaged 6.5 rebounds as the Pilots split a pair of conference road games last week.

Holopainen started the week with a 10 for 13 shooting performance at Saint Mary's en route to a game-high 26 points. She scored 19 of her 26 points in the second half that helped the Pilots erase a 15-point deficit. Holopainen followed that up with a career-high eight rebounds at Pepperdine as the Pilots won 73-34 in Malibu. She is averaging 11.3 points per game during conference play.
