SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's basketball team embarks on its final road trip of the regular season this weekend, starting things off with a 7 p.m. contest Thursday night against the San Diego Toreros before closing things out with a 7 p.m. game Sunday night at 7 p.m. against the San Francisco Dons. Sunday night's game will be televised on Comcast and aired on tape delay at 3 p.m. Monday afternoon, Feb. 19.
SCU (13-12, 5-5 WCC) will look to sweep its first weekend of the conference season, after having split every two-game weekend so far. Chandice Cronk continues to lead the WCC with 17.2 points a game, and her 3.5 three-pointers a game also leads the conference. Cronk's 87 three-pointers on the year are also two away from the SCU single-season mark of 89, as well as four away from the single-season WCC mark of 91.
The Broncos hold the edge in each of the all-time series against San Diego (29-19) and San Francisco (41-31). In the last meeting with the Toreros, the Broncos fell at home by a 71-52 score, while against the Dons at the Leavey Center, the Broncos prevailed, 89-83, in double overtime.
San Diego (19-4, 8-2 WCC) fell a game behind Gonzaga in the race for the WCC regular-season championship this past weekend, splitting a pair of games against L.A.-area foes Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine. The Toreros defeated the Lions, 69-60, on Thursday before falling 51-50 to the Waves Saturday afternoon. Amber Sprague paces the team with 14.2 points and 8.1 rebounds a game, while guard Kelly Winther adds 11.5 points a game.
San Francisco (8-16, 2-8 WCC) comes off of a split of their own this past weekend in Southern California. The Dons opened up the weekend with a 64-60 upset of Pepperdine on Thursday night, before falling 65-52 Saturday afternoon at Loyola Marymount. The Dons are led by the play of Dominique Carter (14.1 points, 4.9 rebounds per game) and Nickie Warren (8.4 points, 6.4 rebounds per game).
