WCC Women's Basketball Looks For Separation in Penultimate Week of League Play

  • Jr. G Shannon Mauldin of Saint Mary’s is the WCC Player of the Week. RELEASE
  • The 2015 West Coast Conference Hall of Honor Class was released last week. Included are seven former basketball standouts. 
  • The West Coast Conference is second in all of Division I in conference free throw percentage (72.13).
  • BYU’s Lexi Eaton ranks 20th in career free throws (388) and 28th in career points (1,138) among active NCAA Division 1 players. 
  • Pacific’s Kendall Kenyon ranks fifth among active NCAA Division I leaders in career rebounds (1,070), 13th in points (1,348), 16th in rebound average (9.1) and fifth in career double-doubles (45).
  • San Diego’s Sophia Ederaine ranks second among active NCAA Division I career leaders in blocked shots (313) and is 11th in blocked shots average (2.54). 
  • San Diego’s Malina Hood is eigth overall among Division I leaders in 3 point field goals per game (3.00).
  • Santa Clara’s Nici Gilday ranks second overall amound Division 1 leaders in free throw percentage (92.7).
  • San Diego ranks 6th in all of Division I in offensive rebounds (18.0) and second in blocked shots (7.4).
  • Saint Mary’s ranks seventh in Division 1 rebound margin (11.0).
  • For the second time in three years, two WCC teams - Gonzaga and BYU - competed in the NCAA Tournament.
  • BYU marched to the 2014 NCAA Sweet-16 before bowing to eventual National Champion UConn.
  • Three WCC teams - Pacific, Saint Mary’s and San Diego competed in the 2014 WNIT Postseason Tournament.
  • Should BYU’s Kyle Collinsworth record his sixth triple-double to tie the NCAA Division I career record, the WCC would own the all-time leaders for both men’s and women’s basketball. Saint Mary’s Louella Tomlinson (2007-11) shares the Division I women’s record with seven during her standout career.
