SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University women's basketball player Stephanie Hawk has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference office.
Hawk helped Gonzaga clinch at least a share of the WCC regular-season title for the third-straight season as the Zags knocked off Northwest rival University of Portland on the road on Saturday, 88-58. The senior scored a game-high 20 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field, while pulling down a game-high eight rebounds against the Pilots. Hawk also pitched in with four assists and had one steal on the afternoon.
The WCC Player of the Week selection marks the fourth time this season that Hawk has earned the honor, and marks the sixth selection for Gonzaga. The 6-3 forward is averaging a team-best 14.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game.
Gonzaga closes out its 2007 regular season with two West Coast Conference home games this week. The Bulldogs will host the University of San Diego on Thursday and the University of San Francisco on Saturday. The Zags will match-up with the Toreros at 7 p.m. and the Dons at 2 p.m.
