"The West Coast Conference Kids Day Block Party is an integral part of the WCC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships. As a Conference of institutions that values serving our communities, we are excited to once again have this opportunity to give back to the Las Vegas community. I hope our Kids Day inspires the over 780 participants to stay active and make smart food choices that will help them achieve a great future."
Now in its seventh year, the annual event is the community service project the Conference has put together as part of its league-wide celebration in Las Vegas. Each year, institution members athletic department staff, along with schools spirit groups team up to give back to the community in a meaningful way, and with the current tournament format, basketball teams players and coaches will also actively engage in Kids Day.
This year, the West Coast Conference has partnered with the Orleans Arena and Gameday Souvenirs to assist with providing the hundreds of meals and t-shirts for Kids Day. The Orleans Arena has served as the WCC tournament home for the last seven years, while Gameday Souvenirs, is the official supplier of WCC championship merchandise, and has outfitted the kids since its inception.
Since 2009, WCC Kids Day has served over 5,000 students from the After-School All-Stars program.
