SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University junior forward Stephanie Hawk was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week as the Bulldogs swept their two weekend games to earn a share of their second straight WCC regular-season title. Hawk averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds as Gonzaga won on the road at San Diego and San Francisco. On Thursday Hawk scored 19 points and pulled in a career-high 15 rebounds in the seven point win over the Toreros. She added 17 points and 7 rebounds during Saturday's conference clinching win at USF. Hawk was 12-of-13 from the free three line while swatting away 4 shots.
Hawk and the Bulldogs will host the West Coast Conference Women's Tournament starting this Thursday afternoon at the McCarthey Athletic Center. Gonzaga is the No. 2 seed in the tournament after losing the tie-breaker to Santa Clara. GU will face San Francisco in the second game of the night session on Thursday. Hawk is averaging 12.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
