Brackets, Game Times Announced for Tournament

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference has announced the brackets and game times for the 2011 Zappos.com West Coast Conference Basketball Championships at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The tournament will begin with a pair of women's first round match-ups at Noon on Friday, March 4 and continue through the men's championship game on Monday, March 7.

Saint Mary's and Gonzaga shared the WCC men's regular season title with identical 11-3 conference marks. By virtue of its sweep over No. 3 San Francisco, Saint Mary's earns the top seed. Both the Gaels and the second seed Gonzaga Bulldogs earn double byes into the conference semi-finals on Sunday evening. San Francisco, the third seed, and No. 4 Santa Clara each earn a first round bye and will take the floor on Saturday in the quarterfinal round.

On the women's side, unbeaten Gonzaga captured its seventh straight WCC regular season crown and will occupy the top seed. With a 10-4 WCC record, Saint Mary's is the No. 2 seed, and also receives a pair of byes into the semifinals. Pepperdine is the No. 3 women's seed, and Portland is the fourth seed. Both the Waves and Pilots earn byes and will compete in Saturday's quarterfinal rounds.

The 2011 Zappos.com West Coast Conference Basketball Championships get underway at Noon on Friday, with a pair of women's first round games. At Noon, No. 5 Santa Clara takes on No. 8 San Francisco. That game will be followed by a match-up between No. 6 Loyola Marymount and No. 7 San Diego. At 6 p.m., the men's tournament begins when No. 5 Portland battles No. 8 LMU, and No. 6 Pepperdine squares off against seventh seed San Diego.

Sunday's men's semifinals will air nationally beginning at 5 p.m. on ESPN2. On Monday, the women's championship game will be shown nationwide at Noon PST on ESPNU. Later that evening, at 6 p.m., the West Coast Conference men's championship game will air live on ESPN.

The men's and women's winners of the 2011 Zappos.com West Coast Conference Basketball Championships will each receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
