Two Toreros Named to Winter All-Academic Team

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The University of San Diego placed two women's basketball players on the West Coast Conference Winter Academic Team which was released on Monday. Senior guard Polly Dong and junior forward Sabine Loewe were honored.

Dong is currently working on her Master of Arts degree in Real Estate and holds a 3.57 GPA. Dong has moved into second all-time in career assists at San Diego as she has dished out 412 career-assists. Dong is currently averaging 5.3 points per game and is averaging a team-leading 3.0 assists per contest.

Loewe, a native of Lauchhammer, Germany, has a 3.39 GPA while working on her bachelors degree in history. Loewe is currently third on the team in scoring with a 7.2 points per game average and has a team-leading 155 rebounds heading into the WCC Tournament.

The Toreros will return to action on Thursday as they open play in the WCC Tournament against No. 3 seed Loyola Marymount University in a noon tip-off. The WCC Tournament will be held in Spokane, Wash. at the McCarthey Athletic Center, home of Gonzaga University.
