SAN BRUNO, CA -- The West Coast Conference is please to announce the 2012 women's basketball individual award-winners and all-conference team, as voted on by the league's nine head coaches. BYU's Kristen Riley is the Player of the Year, Pepperdine senior Jazmine Jackson is the Defensive Player of the Year, and BYU freshman Lexi Eaton and Gonzaga redshirt-sophomore Haiden Palmer are the Co-Newcomers of the Year. San Diego's Cindy Fisher is the Coach of the Year.

Riley, the 2011 Mountain West Conference Sixth Player of the Year, led the WCC with 9.3 rebounds and was fifth in the conference with 14.4 points per game during WCC play. The senior forward shot .439 from beyond the arc, good for second in the WCC. Riley also averaged 1.1 blocks per game and the Cougars led the league with 6.5 swats per contest during conference play.

Jackson is the WCC Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. She ranked fifth in the WCC with 2.1 steals per contest during WCC play. As a team, the Waves led the conference with 10.8 steals per game and were second with a +9.4 turnover margin during conference action.

Eaton started all 30 games as a freshman and averaged 11 points per game in 16 WCC contests. She shot .468 from the field during conference play. Palmer, who was named to the 2010 Pacific-10 Conference All-Freshman Team after starting all 31 games at Oregon State, averaged 11.3 points per contest and was seventh in the WCC with two steals per game in WCC play.

Fisher led the Toreros to 21 wins during the regular season, tying a program record. The award is the second for Fisher, as she was the Co-Coach of the Year following the 2006-07 season when the Toreros won 20+ games for the first time ever.
