Five WCC Women's Teams Set to Open 2014 Postseason Play

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – For the second time in three seasons, the West Coast Conference will send multiple teams to the NCAA Tournament, as the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee unveiled its bracket on Monday afternoon. Two West Coast Conference teams – No. 12 BYU and No. 6 Gonzaga - will compete in the field of 64, both in the Lincoln Region. Pacific, Saint Mary’s and San Diego will all compete in the 2014 WNIT Postseason Tournament.

WCC QUICK HITS

  • For the second time in three years, two WCC teams - Gonzaga and BYU - will compete in the NCAA Tournament.

  • Pacific’s KiKi Moore leads NCAA Division I in career steals (375), and steals average (2.95); Gonzaga’s Haiden Palmer is fourth (2.84).
  • Saint Mary’s Danielle Mauldin ranks fifth among active NCAA Division I leaders in career rebounds (1,267/9.8 rpg).
  • Pacific’s KiKi Moore ranks in the top-25 among active Division I leaders in career points (20th/2,008/16.5 ppg).
  • BYU’s Kim Beeston ranks in the top-25 among active Division I leaders in career 3-pointers (23rd/244).
  • Saint Mary’s Jackie Nared ranks 25th among active Division I scoring leaders (16.9).
  • Two Gaels rank in the top-20 among active NCAA Division I leaders in career free throws: Danielle Mauldin (14th/512) and Jackie Nared (17th/496).
  • Saint Mary’s senior forward Danielle Mauldin seized the WCC career rebound record at Pacific (1/25/14), and now has 1,267 . Former teammate Louella Tomlinson (2007-11) held the record with 1,122.
