San Diego heads to Stillwater for WNIT Final Four

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Two West Coast Conference women's basketball teams are still playing in the postseason, as Gonzaga advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament and San Diego earned a spot in the WNIT Elite Eight.


  • San Diego advanced to the WNIT Final Four with a 58-47 win at Washington on Sunday. Senior Morgan Woodrow scored a game-high 21 points for USD. San Diego will face Oklahoma State on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. CT in Stillwater, Okla. The Final Four matchup will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.

  • The Toreros are seeking to become the second WCC team ever to win a WNIT championship (Santa Clara, `91).

  • San Diego recorded its first ever postseason victory in a 60-58 win over Cal State Northridge in the first round of the WNIT. The Toreros have also defeated Pacific, Texas Tech and Washington en route to the Final Four of the WNIT. The Toreros' 26 wins this season surpassed the previous program mark of 22 wins.

  • After advancing to its third consecutive NCAA Sweet 16, No. 11 Gonzaga fell 79-62 to No. 2 Kentucky on Sunday in Kingston, Rhode Island. Senior Kayla Standish paced the Bulldogs with 25 points. The Zags end the season with a 28-6 record.

  • BYU senior Haley Steed was named one of eight finalists for the Nancy Lieberman Award, given to the nation's top guard. The winner will be announced during the NCAA Final Four weekend April 1 through 3.
