SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University women's basketball head coach Kelly Graves has announced the hiring of Lisa Fortier as an assistant coach on the Bulldogs staff. Fortier is no stranger to the Zags program having served as the coordinator of basketball operations at Gonzaga for two seasons from 2004-06. She returns to Gonzaga after a season as an assistant coach at the University of Northern Colorado; members of the Big Sky Conference. She replaces Triana Allen who left earlier this summer.

Fortier played collegiate basketball at both Cal State Monterey Bay and Butte (Calif.) Community College. At CSUMB, she earned honorable mention all Cal-Pac Conference honors as a junior and was an NAIA Academic All-American in 2003. Fortier was named the 2004 CSUMB Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.

She graduated Magna Cum Laude from CSUMB in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in human communications.

"We are excited that Lisa will again be part of our program," said Graves. "Having been around our program for a few years she understands what is needed to maintain the success of our program. Lisa is extremely hard working and will be a great fit for us."

Gonzaga had an unprecedented year in 2007. The Bulldogs made their inaugural appearance in the NCAA Tournament after winning their first-ever West Coast Conference Tournament title. Gonzaga closed out the season with a 24-10 overall record and a stellar 13-1 WCC record.
