SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego head women's basketball coach Cindy Fisher has announced the addition of Colorado State University transfer Nya Mason to the 2007-08 roster.
"We are so fortunate to have a player of Nya's caliber coming into our program. Nya is a very talented and skilled low post player and will make an immediate impact on our team," said Fisher. "Nya will sit out next year and use this time to learn the system, continue to develop her skills and defend and challenge our current post players everyday in practice."
Mason is coming to the Toreros after playing in 25 games for CSU. The 6-2 Portland, Ore. native averaged four points per game and 2.2 rebounds per game this past season, while shooting 44 percent from the floor and 82 percent from the charity stripe.
As a prep at St. Mary's High School in Portland, Mason was named Mt. Hood Conference Player of the Year in 2006 and first-team All-Conference in 2005 and 2006 while averaging 22.3 points and 13.6 rebounds per game. In her senior season, she was an All-America nominee and served as her team's captain. Mason was a two-sport athlete in high school as she also played volleyball.
