USF Women's Basketball Player Diary

Sept. 18, 2006

Lisa Olden is a junior on the USF women's basketball team.

Our team is excited to be back at USF together and working out doing weights, individuals, conditioning, and open gyms. There have been a lot of transitions since last spring, so it has been nice getting to know our awesome new freshmen, basketball coaches, strength and conditioning coach, trainer, and athletic director. Plus, seeing all the returning players, coaches, and staff after a long summer has been great as well! Last week was our first full week of workouts and, although we were all a little sore, it has been nice to get back into the swing of things. We are getting a feel for Coach Haave's system: learning what she expects from us and what we can expect from our coaching staff.

Even though we are all entering this season at different stages in our careers at USF, there seems to be an overwhelming desire to really come together as a team and have a break out season! The energy and enthusiasm is high, whether we're playing together in open gym or being reminded by Coach Stires at an early morning workout that, "It's a great day to be a DON!"

As for myself, I am excited to head into my junior year and feel much better about the way I am playing in open gyms. I am playing aggressively and with more confidence. I can't wait for official practices and games to start! Trust me, you are not going to want to miss a second of USF women's basketball this season!
