Los Angeles, CA (Oct. 12) - It has become an annual tradition in collegiate basketball, and at Loyola Marymount it has grown to one of the largest student events of the season. Madness at Midnight will once again begin the college basketball season on the LMU campus as both the men's and women's basketball teams tip-off their season in Gersten Pavilion tonight, Friday, Oct. 12 at 10 p.m.
Madness at Midnight is in its sixth year and has grown into one of the top events of the school year. With more than 3,000 students, staff, fans and alumni cramming Gersten Pavilion, the basketball season gets off to a big start.
Doors open at 10 p.m. with festivities beginning shortly after. Both teams will be introduced with Men's Head Coach Rodney Tention and Women's Head Coach Julie Wilnoit giving a quick intro to the coming season.
In addition to the start of the new basketball season, highlighting the night will be the annual team dance competitions. Competing this season in the annual competition are women's rowing, women's water polo, women's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball and the defending contest champions, men's crew.
Also performing will be the LMU Cheer Team, Harmony, BBoy Status, IB Modern and Kumba Beatz.
The women's basketball team will then open their season with exhibition games in Gersten Pavilion on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 3 at 5:30 p.m. The men's team will play their lone exhibition following the women's game on Nov. 3.
The regular season will then start with the men at UC Irvine on Nov. 9 while the women will travel to Boise State on the same day.
