SPOKANE, Wash. - Freshman Courtney Vandersloot and sophomore Heather Bowman scored 18 and 17 points, respectively, to highlight Saturday's Blue and White scrimmage for the Gonzaga University women's basketball team. Vandersloot's 18 points help lead the Blue to a 58-45 decision over Bowman and the White.
Along with Vandersloot, who was 7-of-12 from the field and dished out a game-high six assists, Maria Hassett also scored in double-figure points for the Blue squad. Hassett scored 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting and added 11 rebounds, five offensive, for the only double-double of the night.
Senior Michelle Elliott and sophomore Vivian Frieson each added eight points as the Blue team closed out the night shooting 44.7% (21-47) from the field, including 35.7% (5-4) from beyond the three-point arc.
Bowman and senior Rachel Kane were the two players to score in double-digit points for the White team. Kane finished with 10 points along with two assists and five rebounds.
The White squad finished the night shooting 36.0% (18-50) from the floor, including 44.4% (4-9) on three-pointers.
Gonzaga will host Corban College in an exhibition contest on Monday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. before opening its regular season hosting in-state rival the University of Washington on Monday, Nov. 12 also at 7 p.m.
