Waves Set to Host Timeout for HIV/AIDs Classic this Weekend

Off to a 1-1 start to the 2006-07 season, the Pepperdine women's basketball team will face No. 14/12 Rutgers in its home opener Friday night in the second game of the Timeout for HIV/AIDs Classic at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu, Calif.

The Waves opened the year with a 72-48 loss at then-No. 14/14 Texas A&M on Nov. 10 but rebounded two nights later for a 57-42 victory over UNLV in Las Vegas.

Sophomore guard Jessica Ross leads Pepperdine at 10.5 points per game, while junior guard Daphanie Kennedy's seven rebounds per game is a team-high.

The first game of the tournament will pit No. 18/19 Cal against Florida at 5 p.m. PT.
