WCC women's basketball enters second week of season

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- West Coast Conference women's basketball teams started the season last Friday, November 9th. BYU, Gonzaga, San Diego and San Francisco are unbeaten after the first weekend of the regular season.


  • BYU's season got off to a running start with an 80-55 win over Weber State Friday and a 58-57 victory at Dartmouth on Tuesday. Sophomore Lexi Eaton averaged 21.5 points per game to open the 2012-13 campaign.

  • Gonzaga won a pair of road contests to open with a 2-0 record. The Bulldogs pulled out a 60-53 win at UC Riverside Friday and a 63-52 victory at USC, snapping a two-game losing streak to the Trojans.

  • San Diego and San Francisco are also unbeaten early on. Senior guard Mel Khlok paced the Dons with 17 points in a 63-52 win over Hawaii.

  • Saint Mary's split its Pac-12 road trip last weekend. The Gaels fell 70-68 at Washington Friday before rebounding for a 78-69victory at Oregon Sunday. WCC Player of the Week Danielle Mauldin averaged 16.5 points and 13.5 rebounds for SMC.

  • Pepperdine and Santa Clara split their first two games of the season, both winning the first. The Waves won 83-68 at UCDavis and the Broncos topped UC Irvine 77-54 Friday night. Senior Meagan Fulps led SCU with 23 points.
