SAN DIEGO, Calif.- The University of San Diego's junior point guard Amanda Rego was named the West Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week after helping lead the Toreros to back-to-back wins this past week.
Rego set a new program record in the Toreros' 30-point win over cross-town rival San Diego State University this past Sunday. Rego recorded 14 assists to set a new single-game record for assists, and she also dropped in 10 points to post her second double-double of the season. In Tuesday's 68-53 win over UC Riverside, the junior guard from Mission Bay High School, racked up 11 assists and added nine points in the win. On the season, Rego is averaging a double-double at 10.7 points per game and a conference-leading 11.7 assists per game.
The Toreros, who are off to their best start in program history, will return to action on Friday as they host Georgia Tech in a 7 p.m. game at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. The Toreros will then close their four-game home stand with a 12:30 p.m. game against Air Force on Sunday.
