WCC women's basketball teams prepare for holiday tournaments

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- West Coast Conference women's basketball continues this week as a majority of the WCC teams will be participating in holiday tournaments.


  • Gonzaga is receiving votes in this week's AP Top 25. The Bulldogs defeated Wisconsin 62-53 on Friday and followed that up with a 77-51 win over Monmouth (NJ). Junior guard Haiden Palmer is averaging 14.0 points and nearly five steals per game.

  • BYU handed Arizona its first loss of the season, 62-48, in Tucson on Tuesday, November 20. Junior center Jennifer Hamson scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in her season-debut.

  • Loyola Marymount won both of its contests last week and junior guard Hazel Ramirez set an LMU single-game record with 12 assists in a 98-81 victory against Utah State on Saturday.

  • San Francisco split its two games last and are 2-1. Freshman Taylor Proctor paced USF with 18 points in a 72-65 win over UC Davis last Wednesday. She also added five steals, five rebounds, four blocks and four assists for the Dons.

  • Santa Clara is also 2-1 after last week. The Broncos defeated Utah Valley 81-67 last Saturday and senior guard Meagan Fulps eclipsed the 1,000-point career mark.
