SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for November 25, 2013.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – DANIELLE MAULDIN, SR., F, SAINT MARY’S
Senior forward Danielle Mauldin had two huge performances helping the Gaels improve to 5-0 after leading the squad to a shorthanded 2-0 weekend. Missing two starters in both games, Mauldin posted two double-doubles and averaged 20.0 points and 18.0 rebounds for the week. The Emeryville, Calif. native shot 16-for-32 (.500) from the field while adding five assists, four steals and three blocks.
In the win over UC Santa Barbara, Mauldin converted 8-for-12 from the field and finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds in the 89-79 win. Against Cal Poly, she sparked the comeback victory as Saint Mary’s trailed by as many as 14, before outscoring the Mustangs 53-33 in the second half for the 77-69 decision.
Mauldin’s final tally against the Mustangs was 22 points and 22 rebounds, coming within three boards of the single-game school record for rebounds. The 20-20 night was the first of Mauldin’s career and the second turned in by a WCC player this season (Pacific’s Kendall Kenyon). The senior post also scored her 1,000th career point in the victory against Cal Poly.
