SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference has named its Women's Basketball Player of the Week for December 1, 2014.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - LAUREN NICHOLSON, JR., G
Junior guard Lauren Nicholson led the Gaels to three victories last week, including the Saint Mary's Hilton Concord Thanksgiving Classic title, being named MVP in the process.
To begin the week, Nicholson scored 22 points with four rebounds in a 99-91 win over Sacramento State. She would score 20 points with four rebounds in the win over Howard in the opening game of the SMC Classic. Then against previously unbeaten Iowa State, Nicholson poured in a game-high 25 points with five rebounds, including a key go-ahead three-pointer with 1:44 remaining in the game. The deep ball changed the game as the Gaels were leading by one at the time, with Nicholson's three making it a two-possession game.
For the week, the junior guard averaged 22.3 ppg, shot a blistering 59.5 percent from the field (25-for-42), connected on 4-for-10 from behind the arc, averaging 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
