Three Unbeaten WCC Teams Enter December

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference enters the opening week of December set for a busy slate of non-conference games. Entering Wednesday, the WCC owns a record of 41-26 and the top five teams in the league standings own a combined slate of 30-3 (90.9%). Three teams - BYU, Saint Mary's and San Diego - boast unblemished 7-0 records, while No. 24/24 Gonzaga is 5-1. WCC squads have tallied six victories against Pac-12 opponents so far this season.


  • Through December 3, WCC teams own a 61.2% winning percentage vs. non-conference foes, including a 28-7 (80.0%) rate on their home floors. See page 2 for more.
  • WCC Teams rate in the top-25 among NCAA DI leaders in several categories: Scoring - Saint Mary's (18th/83.7), Pacific (25th/81.8); Assists - BYU 11th/19.5); Blocks - BYU (8th/6.5); Field Goal % - Saint Mary's (19th/47.3); 3P Field Goal % - Saint Mary's (10th/41.6); Field Goal % Defense - Gonzaga (5th/29.9); Scoring Defense - Gonzaga (22nd/56.2), San Diego (25th/57.5); Steals - Pacific (16th/12.2); 3PFG% Defense - Gonzaga (2nd/18.8).   • BYU's Jennifer Hamson is fifth among Division I blocked shots leaders (3.67) and 24th in FG% (59.5); Gonzaga's Jazmine Redmon is 10th in assist/turnover ratio (4.17); Saint Mary's Danielle Mauldin is third in rebounds (14.0); Gonzaga's Haiden Palmer is 5th in steals (3.80), while Pacific's Kiki Moore is 21st (3); BYU's Kim Beeston is 13th in 3-pointers (3.33) and 19th in 3P FG% (1.000), while Saint Mary's Lauren Nicholson in 5th in 3P FG% (56.7).
  • Five WCC teams - Gonzaga (1), BYU (3), Saint Mary's (4), San Diego (10) and Pacific (22),  - cracked this week's mid-major top-25 poll as released by College Basketball Insiders.
  • Four WCC members advanced to postseason play in 2012-13. Gonzaga represented the league in the NCAA Tournament, while BYU, Saint Mary's and San Diego competed in the WNIT. Pacific also competed in the WNIT in its final season in the Big West Conference.
