BYU has won six games in a row and is first WCC team to seven wins

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --West Coast Conference women's basketball is back in action on Wednesday, December 7 when San Francisco hosts Florida at 5:30 p.m. PT. Four more games are on the slate for Thursday.

QUICK HITS

  • Gonzaga senior Kayla Standish was named to the NaismithTrophy preseason watch list, which was compiled by the Atlanta Tipoff Club's Board of Selectors. The list includes the top women's college basketball players from 35 schools around the country.

  • BYU has won six games in a row, including capturing the Hukilau Invitational title in Laie, Hawaii last week. The Cougars defeated previously-unbeaten Arizona 82-73 on Thursday, December 1 and Syracuse 83-58 on Sunday, December 4.

  • Santa Clara is 6-2 and ranked among the nation's best in several statistical categories. Senior guard Alyssa Shoji is third in the NCAA with 3.9 three-point fields per game. The Broncos lead the WCC and are 16th in the country with 80 points per game.

  • Pepperdine is on a four-game winning streak after victories at Cal Poly on November 30 and at home against Cal State Northridge on December 3. The Waves lead the WCC with 12.4 steals per game and a plus-six turnover margin.

  • Loyola Marymount redshirt-junior guard/forward Alex Cowling leads the WCC with 20.4 points per game. Cowling scored a career-high 31 points in a 57-54 win at New Mexico on December 1.
