SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for December 9, 2013.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – SUNNY GREINACHER, JR., F, GONZAGA
Junior forward Sunny Greinacher helped No. 24 Gonzaga to three wins last week as the Bulldogs improved to 7-1 overall. Greinacher reached double-figures in all three games and averaged 14 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.7 assists per game, while shooting a blistering 59.4 percent (19-32) from the field. She also was a perfect 4-of-4 at the charity stripe.
Greinacher started the week scoring a then-season high 14 points - on 7-of-11 shooting - in the Zags victory over Fairfield University. She also had four rebounds, two steals, one block and one assist in 23 minutes of play. She followed with a 10-point, eight-rebound performance against Portland State.
She saved her biggest game for last as she tallied a season-high 18 points and a career-high 14 boards (7 offensive) in helping the Zags earn a one-point road victory over Ohio State on Sunday. Greinacher had 10 points in the final half against the Buckeyes, and added three blocks and two assists. The double-double is Greinacher's first of her career.
