WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
HALEY STEED, GR., G. BYU
BYU point guard Haley Steed is the WCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Steed averaged 22 points, 7.6 assists, and five rebounds went 2-0 against two in-state rivals last week.
Steed recorded her first double-double of the year with a game-high 22 points and 12 assists vs. Utah State on Tuesday. She also picked up career highs in three-pointers made with six. All but four of her 22 points came from behind the arc. Steed was also a perfect four of four from the charity stripe.
Against Utah she tied her season-best with 22 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists and one steal to hand the Utes their first loss of the season. She led all scorers in the Deseret First Duel against Utah. The points also gave her enough to become BYU's 23rd player to reach 1,000-point club. She finished the game with 1,012 career points.
For the week, the 5-4 guard and co-captain averaged 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 7.6 assists while shooting 47 percent from the field and 50 percent from the free throw line and from 3-point range.
