SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- One month into the non-conference slate, seven West Coast Conference women's basketball teams have a winning percentage of .500 or better. Gonzaga (9-2) is receiving votes in both the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and AP Top 25.

  • Saint Mary's is on a five-game winning streak. The Gaels will play No. 14/17 UCLA and St. John's/Tennessee Tech in Queens, New York this weekend. Junior guard Jackie Nared leads the WCC with 18.6 points per game.

  • BYU point guard Haley Steed was named both the ESPNW and WCC Player of the Week. Steed averaged 22 points last week and broke the 1,000 career-points plateau.

  • Santa Clara won 68-67 at Long Beach State on Saturday on a buzzer beater by junior Arteivia Lilomaiava. The win evened the Broncos record for the season.

  • Gonzaga has won three games in a row and will host No. 19/20 Ohio State on Monday night.

  • Seven WCC student-athletes rank among the NCAA's best. BYU's Haley Steed is third in the country with 7.4 assists per game. Saint Mary's is out-rebounding its opponents by a margin of 12.3 per contest, good for 10th in the NCAA. San Diego's Amy Kame is tied for 12th in the country with 3.88 steals a game.
