BYU extends winning streak to eight games

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --West Coast Conference women's basketball is back in action on Tuesday, December 13 when Santa Clara visits Seattle at 7:00 p.m. PT. Eight games are on the schedule for Saturday, December 17.


  • BYU has won eight games in a row, which is the longest currentwinning streak in the West Coast Conference and the sixth longest in the NCAA.The Cougars defeated in-state rival Utah 63-58 last Saturday.

  • Santa Clara leads the WCC with 8.3 three-point field goals per contest, which is also eighth in the nation. Senior guard Alyssa Shoji is knocking down 3.9 three's per game, good for second in the NCAA.

  • San Diego defeated crosstown-rival San Diego State 56-45 last Thursday. The Toreros are allowing 53.8 points per game this season, which is tops in the WCC.

  • Gonzaga is ranked 25th in this week's ESPN/USA TodayCoaches' Poll. Senior forward Kayla Standish averaged 12.5 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks, three steals and 2.5 assists last week as the Bulldogs went 2-0.

  • Pepperdine leads the WCC and is 29th in the nation with 12.4 steals per contest. Senior guard Lauren Bell leads the conference with 3.4 steals per game. Senior guard Jazmine Jackson tallied four steals in last week's contest against Oregon State.
