SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for December 23, 2013.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JACKIE NARED, SR., G, SAINT MARY’S
Senior guard Jackie Nared led the Gaels to two road victories over the weekend as SMC improved to 10-1, its best start in school history. Nared captures WCC Player of the Week honors for the second time this season and the fourth four the Gaels overall in 2013-14.
In the win over USC, Nared scored 21 points, including seven straight bringing the Gaels from behind in the second half. The Gaels would go on to defeat Women of Troy 71-55 at the Galen Center. It was the second win against a Pac-12 opponent this season for Saint Mary’s. Nared then led SMC at CSUN, helping the Gaels to a 72-60 victory. Nared scored 16 points with seven rebounds connecting on 7-for-8 from the field in the win. For the week, Nared averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals per game and shot 53.6 percent (15-for-28) from the field.
