Conference play begins Thursday night

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --West Coast Conference women's basketball begins conference play on Thursday with three games on the schedule that night. San Diego closes out the nonconference schedule on Wednesday night when it hosts Cal State Bakersfield at 7:00 p.m. PT.


  • San Diego hosts Cal State Bakersfield on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. PT, the final non-conference game before WCC play begins on Thursday night.

  • Gonzaga is ranked 24th in the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. The Bulldogs won the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic last week with wins over No. 12 Georgia and Dayton.

  • BYU extended its winning streak to 10 games with an 84-53 win over Nevada last Thursday. Senior forward Kristen Riley paced the Cougars with a season-high 17 points and six rebounds.

  • Saint Mary's won its fourth game in a row and completed an undefeated road trip with a 72-62 win at Oregon last Wednesday. WCC Player of the Week Jasmine Smith led the way with 35 points, including 21 points in the first eight minutes of the game.

  • The first of two WCC games on CBS College Sports will be Thursday, January 19 when Portland visits San Diego at 7:00 p.m. PT.

  • The tip-off time for Saint Mary's at BYU on February 4 has been changed from 1:00 p.m. PT to 12:00 p.m. PT.
