Women's Crew Preps For WCC Challenge

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's crew team will hit the water for the first time this spring season when they compete in four races at this weekend's WCC Challenge. The event now in its fourth season includes all five West Coast Conference schools that participate in women's crew.

Racing will start on Saturday morning with Gonzaga facing Santa Clara University at 9:30 a.m. at the Lake Natoma course. GU will face Saint Mary's College at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Gonzaga and Loyola Marymount University will race on Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m. with the weekend closing out with a race against the University of San Diego at 2 p.m., Sunday afternoon.

Gonzaga has posted a 10-1 record in the three previous WCC Challenges. This year's competing varsity 8+ will include coxswain Erin Palmiter, stroke Kari Durgan, Jessica Kocarnik, Cory Nelson, Sarah Allison, Nicole Aadland-Lewis, Kelsey Raap, Julie Smetana and bow Kelsey Koenig.
