Women's Crew Heads To PCRC And Pac-10 Championships

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University will send two women's boats into action this weekend as the Bulldogs crew heads to Sacramento, Calif., for the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships on Saturday and the Pacific-10 Conference Championships on Sunday at Lake Natoma. Gonzaga will enter a varsity 4+ in the PCRC and a varsity 8+ in the Pac-10's, both boats are coming off championship runs at the WIRA Championships two weeks ago.

Gonzaga's varsity 4+ will include coxswain Kris Lund, stroke Mariah Smith-Miloff, Heather Jewell, Grace Wallace and bow Kelsey Koenig. Gonzaga will heat race at 10:20 a.m. on Saturday with Stanford University, Saint Mary's College, USC, University of California and Sacramento State University also in the heat. The top three boats in the race will advance to the afternoon Grand Final with the second three advancing to the Petite Final.

Gonzaga's varsity 8+ will include coxswain Erin Palmiter, stroke Kari Durgan, Karen O'Hagan, Cory Nelson, Jessica Kocarnik, Stephanie Murphy, Courtney Haia, Sarah Allison and bow Nicole Aadland-Lewis. Gonzaga will heat race at 9:20 a.m. on Sunday morning with California, USC, UCLA, Sacramento State and San Diego State also in the heat. The top three boats will advance to the afternoon Grand Final with the second three advancing to the Petite Final. Gonzaga finished 10th in last year's Pac-10 championships.
