SAN MARTIN, Calif. - The Santa Clara Women's Golf team played through a long day of 36 holes today in the San Jose State Spartan Invitational finishing 13th.
Freshman Jamie Nonaka from Haleiwa, Hawaii, turned in the days lowest scores for the team shooting a 79 and 77 in two rounds.
Other low scores came from Corey Utsurogi with a 77 first round, and Samantha Trask with a 76 first round score.
Coach Polly Schulze had this to say covering the teams first round of the tournament.
"Our low score came from Jamie Nonaka, our little freshman. It was herfirst time ever playing a 36 hole day, and she was our low scorer. Ithink we came in ranked last, but we are definitely playing better andprogressing towards conference. Overall I am not really disappointed. Wehadn't played a 36-hole day since we were up in Boise back in October,so we were trying to get in the flow. I would have liked us to to alittle better in round two, but it's very good that we are under 320."
The Broncos continue with the Invitational tomorrow looking for a better round of scores overall.
"We'll just keep progressing forward and look to come in under 310tomorrow." said, Coach Schulze.
