Junior All-American Eileen Vargas carded an even-par 72 on Saturday and is tied for second place after 36 holes of the PING / Arizona State Invitational that is being played at the par-72, 6,230-yard Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Arizona.
Vargas, who enters Sunday's final round with a 3-under par 141, is tied with Arizona State's Tiffany Tavee and is one-shot behind Ashley Knoll of Texas A&M, who is at 4-under par 140.
Arizona's Adrianna Zwanck is in fourth place with a 36-hole score of 142 while UCLA's Susie Mathews and USC's Dewi Schreefel are tied for fifth with 1-under par totals of 143.
UCLA leads the team standings with a 1-over par 577 and holds a four-stroke advantage over host Arizona State, which is at 5-over par 581. Texas A&M (587) is third, USC (593) is in fourth place and Pepperdine is fifth with a 24-over par score of 600. The Waves shot a 20-over par 308 on Saturday.
Pepperdine is slated to begin teeing off at 8:26 a.m. and will be grouped with Stanford and USC. All the action can be followed live on the Internet at www.golstat.com.
