Women's Golf Tied For 5th At Hoya Invite

LEESBURG, Va. - Sophomore Lacey Jo Manwaring fired a first round total of 79 on Saturday afternoon as she helped pace the Gonzaga women's golf team to a tie for 5th place after day one of the Hoya Invitational at Raspberry Falls Golf and Hunt Club.

Manwaring shot 38 on the front nine and 41 on teh back to finish seven shots over par. Sarah Sheffield and Lauren Phillips were both one shot back and tied for 12th with eight other golfers.

The Bulldogs fired a team total of 325 and stand 15 shots behind host Georgetown University which shot a 310 to lead the 15 team field. Yale University was second at 314 followed by Columbia University at 322, Bethune-Cookman College at 323 and Princeton University at 325 to tie Gonzaga.

Mary Kate Morgan was tied for 48th and Jennifer Swanson tied for 68th to round the out the five Bulldogs golfers competing this weekend. Competition concludes on Sunday morning in Northern Virginia.
