USF Women's Golf in 10th Place after First Day of Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational

(Albuquerque) - USF women's golf opened the fall season at the 2006 Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational and after day one are in 10th place at 604 (303, 301) in a strong field at the University of New Mexico Golf Course. The Dons enter Tuesday's final round six shots out of the top-10 and eight shots out of seventh place.

Junior Jessica Potter turned in another outstanding showing, carding a one-under 143 (74, 69) after firing a three-under 69 in round two, good for a share of seventh place on the leader board. Potter led the Dons with nine birdies on the day, six coming during the opening round to go along with a team-high 21 pars. South Carolina's Jenna Pearson is the leader at 139 (72, 67).

Arizona State owns the overall tournament lead at 11-under 575 (294, 281), South Carolina is second at 583 (295, 288), Texas A&M is third at 585 (294, 291), UNLV is fourth at 589 (291, 298), while BYU rounds out the top-five at 592 (298, 294).

Freshman Christina Stockton made a solid debut for the Dons with a 150 (74, 76), good for a share of 37th place, while senior Kristin Nichols shot 154 (77, 77) for a share of 59th place.
