FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Gonzaga University's women's golf team rebounded from a poor second round to shoot a 318 Tuesday during the final round of the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic hosted by Colorado State University.

The round wasn't enough to get the Bulldogs out of 18th place, however, as they finished at 957. First-day leader University of California maintained the top spot, finishing at 287.

Senior Sarah Sheffield was the top Bulldog, sandwiching a pair of 76's around a second-round 81 to give her a 233 and a tie for 49th. Anna Friedhoff, who struggled with an 81-83 on Monday, came back to shoot a 76 on Tuesday to finish at 240 and tied for 81st.

Shannon Yocum of Cal shot a final-round 70 over the 6,223-yard, par 72 Ptarmigan Country Club course to capture medalist honors with a 214 after first-day rounds of 73-71. That was good for a 2-stroke win over teammate Pia Halbig. First-day leader Mary Mattson of Campbell finished tied for third.

The next action for the Bulldogs will be Sept. 24-25 when they host the MDA Invitational at Hangman Valley Golf Course in Spokane.
