Winds Hamper Women's Golf At Colorado

BOULDER, Colo. - High winds made the scores soar Tuesday during the final round of the Colorado University Heather Farr Memorial Invitational women's golf tournament.

Only two players made par Tuesday on the 6,280-yard, par 72 Omni Interlocken Golf Course as there were only 28 sub-80 rounds among the 91 players.

Gonzaga University was no exception to the windy conditions Tuesday as Jennifer Swanson's 82 was the best Bulldog round of the day.

Lacey Jo Manwaring, who shot 78-82 on Monday's 36 holes, finished with an 85 on Tuesday for a 54-hole total of 245 that put her 69th to lead the Bulldogs.

Dale Gummie, the 36-hole leader, shot 72 on Tuesday to take medalist honors at 214 for a 5-shot victory over Emily Hoeper of team champion Denver University. The Pioneers finished at 900 for a 4-stroke victory over the University of Idaho. Gonzaga finished last in the 17-team field at 996.

Gonzaga will conclude the fall season Oct. 16-18 at New Mexico State University.
