Henderson, Nev. - The 10th-ranked Pepperdine women's golf team received consistent scoring throughout its line-up and is currently tied for third place after 18 holes of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown that opened Monday at the par-72, 6,175-yard Anthem Country Club in Henderson, Nevada.
Freshman Misun, Cho and senior All-American Eileen Vargas each carded first-round scores of even-par 72 to help the Waves post a 5-over par 293. Sophomore Nicole Montgomery, playing in her first tournament of the year and as an individual, also shot a 72 and is among a group of 10 players tied for 11th place.
Pepperdine, which is tied with USC, is one-shot behind Arizona State and Oklahoma State. Both the Sun Devils and Cowgirls posted 4-over par totals of 292 to lead the field.
Arizona and Brigham Young are tied for fifth with 7-over par scores of 295.
Vargas had three straight birdies to conclude her round and Pepperdine shot 5-under over its final three holes to surge up the standings and into a third-place tie.
Oklahoma State's Sarah Bradley leads the individual standings after shooting a first-round score of 3-under par 69 and has a two-shot advantage over UNLV's Natasha Krishna and BYU's Rachel Newren, who carded 2-under par scores of 70.
Seven players are tied for fourth at 1-under par 71.
