Behind sophomore Jayvie Agojo's 3-under par 69, the 10th-ranked Pepperdine women's golf team shot a final-round 2-under par 286 to finish third at the 17-team Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown that concluded Wednesday at the par-72, 6,175-yard Anthem Country Club in Henderson Nevada.
The Waves completed play at 7-over par 871 to finish 16 shots behind Oklahoma State which captured the team title with a 9-under par score of 855. The Cowgirls registered a 10-shot victory over second-place Arizona State, which totaled a 54-hole score of 865.
USC (875) placed fourth and UCLA rounded out the top five with a total of 884.
Texas A&M's Ashley Knoll claimed individual medalist honors with a 7-under par total of 209 to register a two-stroke victory over Oklahoma State's Pernilla Lindberg and Azahara Munoz of Arizona State. Both players posted scores of 5-under 211.
UCLA's Tiffany Joh (212) finished fourth while Oklahoma State's Sarah Bradley and Alison Walshe of Arizona tied for fifth with scores of 213.
Senior All-American Eileen Vargas was the top finisher for Pepperdine as she totaled a 1-undder par score of 215 to tie UNLV's Da Sol Chung for eighth place.
Pepperdine will be off until November 22 when it opens play at the Aloha Purdue Collegiate Invitational in Kauai, Hawaii. The event will mark the Waves' final tournament of the fall season.
