Pepperdine Women's Golf Program to Host Golf For Business Clinic

March 21, 2006

Malibu, Calif. - Led by 13th-year head coach Laurie Gibbs and featuring current LPGA professional and former Waves All-American Katherine Hull, the Pepperdine women's golf program will host a unique golf clinic for business men and women on Tuesday, April 4, on the University campus.

The event benefits the Pepperdine women's golf program and the cost to attend is $275, with a $25 discount for Pepperdine alumni and E.W.G.A. members. Included in the cost of admission is lunch at the Graziadio Business School, classroom golf in the auditorium and an exhibition at the Alumni Park practice facilities.

The clinic begins with lunch at noon and concludes at 3:30 p.m. following the exhibition at Alumni Park.

Hull and Gibbs will provide insight into how golfers at all levels can improve their game and lower their scores. Participants will learn how to properly manage their game and benefit from the rules of golf. The exhibition will include demonstrations of a number of different shots while answering questions.

Hull was the 2003 College Player of the Year and recipient of the prestigious LPGA Dinah Shore Award as the top all around senior women's collegiate player. Katherine was also recognized as an Academic All-American in 2003 as she led her team to the No. 1 national ranking and second place finish at the NCAA Championship. She qualified for the LPGA Tour on her first attempt and finished 69th in 2004 and 55th in 2005 on the LPGA Money List.

Gibbs was the 2005 Golfweek National Coach of the Year. She has taken a program that started out with limited resources and funding and turned it into one of national prominence. The team challenged for the national championship each of the last eight years. Gibbs has been honored as West Region Coach of the Year twice, West Coast Conference Coach of the Year six times and Pepperdine Coach of the Year on two occasions. In her 13th season as head coach, Gibbs has the Waves ranked No. 6 nationally.

Money raised from the clinic will assist in the continued growth of the Pepperdine women's golf program.
