Sophomore Jessica Potter capped an outstanding start to the 2006 Spring Season with West Coast Conference Player of the Month honors for Women's Golf. Potter enjoyed an strong individual month for the Dons, highlighted by her first career medalist honors at the 2006 Duck Women's Golf Invitational. It is the first league player of the month accolade for the Dons this season and first career nod for Potter.
The Canadian native bounced back in impressive fashion from a rugged first round to win the Duck at the Emerald Valley Golf Course. Potter shot a 78 during the opening round but charged into contention with a 72 in the second round and fired a one-under 71 in the final round to force a playoff with Washington State's Anastasia Kostina (71, 77, 73). Potter won with a bogey on the third playoff hole. Potter, who captured runner-up honors at the 2005 New Mexico State Invitational, carded nine birdies during the tournament, just one off the lead and led the field in par-4 scoring (4.10).
Potter opened the Spring Season in impressive fashion placing third at the 2006 San Jose Spartan Invitational at 151 (77, 74) on a windswept course at Carmel Valley Ranch Resort in Carmel, CA. Potter once again led the field in par-four scoring (4.05) and was sixth in pars (21) to go along with four birdies.
