WCC TEAM NOTES

SCHOOL TEAM NOTES

  • Gonzaga shot a 291 on the final day of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale, Ariz. to finish 20th overall. Freshman Peter Gullickson led the way with a 68 for a 54-hole score of 221 and a tie for 23rd.

  • Freshman Tai Jade `TJ' Kliebphipat and junior Jessica Howe finished 23rd and GonzagaUniversity's women's golf team put together a solid final round to finish 12th in the Mountain View Collegiate Saturday in Tucson, Ariz.

  • Kliebphipat shot a final-round 74 to go with Friday's 73-74 and Howe fired a 72 Saturday to go with rounds of 75-74 and they finished at 221. The Bulldogs shot a 300 Saturday after Friday's 299 and 303 to take 12th at 902.

  • The Zags' men's and women's golf teams will spend the next couple of weeks preparing for the WCC Championships on April 18-19 at the San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister, Calif.
  • Loyola Marymount notched a team score of 399 to finish 13th overall at the Barona Collegiate Cup in Lakeside, Calif. on March 24-25. Junior Jake Sarnoff paced the Lions with a total score of 224, placing him 28th. Sarnoff shot par in the first round and -1 in the second.

  • Freshman Tyler Torano followed Sarnoff in a tie for 36th place at the end of the Cup. Torano put up a third round score of 79 and a total score of 226. Sophomore Bryan Bergna was three strokes behind Torano with a 229 and a tie for 49th place.

  • Transfer Sophomore Eduardo Chavez finished in a tie for 69th place while Senior John Lim came in a tie for 87. Rounding out the Lions was junior Andrew Waldron in a tie for 94th place.

  • The Lions are back in action April 11-12 at the Braveheart Classic in Beaumont, Calif. at the Oak Valley G.C.
  • Sophomore Johnny Mac Arthur of the Pepperdine men's golf team posted a career-best finish with his eighth-place result at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate on Tuesday, while the Waves also came in eighth as a team.

  • The Pepperdine women's golf team finished 10th at the PING/ASU Invitational on Sunday, April 3rd. The Waves were without sophomore Danielle Kang, who was competing at the LPGA's Kraft Nabisco Championship on Thursday and Friday.

  • Pepperdine finished at 903 (301-305-297). Senior Taylor Karle led Pepperdine in the final standings, tying for 25th place with a 7-over 223 (73-78-72).

  • The men's golf team will take part in the ASU Thunderbird Invitational in Tempe, Ariz. on April 9th and 10th. The women's golf team will go for their 10th consecutive West Coast Conference Championship on April 18-19 in Hollister, Calif.


  • Senior Jake Wagner fired a four-under par 68 during the second round en route to a top-20 finish at the Oregon Duck Invitational, which concluded on Tuesday, March 22nd at the Eugene Country Club.

  • Wagner also led the Pilots at the Triumph at Pauma Valley on March 14th and 15th. Wagner closed with a four-over par 75 on Tuesday, which allowed him to move up to 14th overall.

  • Freshman Sara Banke carded three rounds in the 70's to pace the Pilots at the Lumberjack Shootout, which wrapped-up Wednesday, March 16th at Wigwam Country Club. UP finished in 14th place at the three-day, three-round event.

  • The men's golf team will take part in the UC Riverside Braveheart Classic on April 11th and 12th in Beaumont, Calif., while the women will conclude their season at the WCCChampionships on April 18th and 19th in Hollister, Calif.
  • Saint Mary's moved up four spots on the final day of the Barona Collegiate Cup to finish third on March 25th in Lakeside, Calif. The Gaels finished with a 30-over par 1,110. Senior Richard Conlin registered the highest finish of his career, placing seventh in the 100-player field after shooting 70-72-74 for a two-over par 216.

  • Senior Henrik Holm tied for 20th place after three-straight rounds of 74 for six-over par 222. He went two-under par on the back nine with birdies on the par-4 12th and par-5 17th holes.

  • Junior Kevin Smith, playing in his first event of the spring season, finished in a tie for 28th place overall. Smith shot 74-74-76 for a three-round total of eight-over par 224. Sophomores Ben Geyer and Mac McClung tied for 44th place after shooting 12-over par 228.

  • The Gaels return to action April 11-12 at the Braveheart Classic at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif.
  • San Diego tied for 7th at the Ninth Annual University of Wyoming Cowboy Classic with a three-round team score of 855 (285-283-287) on April 4th and 5th.

  • Junior Alex Ching fired a final round 70 on Talking Stick's North Course (par 70, 7133 yardage) and finished in a tie for 5th at 2-under par 208 (69-69-70).

  • The Toreros placed second overall with a three-round team score of 1,086 (+6) at the Barona Collegiate Cup on March 25th in Lakeside, Calif. Ching paced the Toreros once again, as he finished tied for 4th with a 2-under par total of 214 (75-64-75).

  • Up next for the Toreros is the West Coast Conference Championships April 18-19 in Hollister, California at San Juan Oaks Golf Club.
  • The San Francisco men's golf team finished with a 7-over 287 in the final round and placed 10th at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale, Ariz. on March 4th and 5th. Sophomore Taylor Travis was the top finisher for San Francisco in a share of 15th place at 1-over 211 (71, 68, 72).

  • USF women's golf closed with a 307 in Tuesday's final round at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links, securing 11th place. Senior Tinna Johannsdottir was the top finisher for the Dons at 31st place at 230 (74, 80, 76).

  • The Dons' women's golf team placed ninth overall at the Anteater Invitational on March 28th and 29th in Irvine, Calif. Johannsdottir was the top finisher for the Dons in 12th place with a 226 (81, 72, 73).

  • The Dons will next compete in the 2011 West Coast Conference Championships starting Monday, April 18th at the San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister, Calif.
  • The Santa Clara men's golf team placed 19th overall at the Wyoming Cowboy Class on April 4th and 5th. Playing in his first tournament of the spring season, Ronnald Monaco shot an even-par 70 during final-round play.

  • Sophomore Rick Lamb shot three-over for the tournament to finish in tie for 11th at the Barona Collegiate Cup on March 24th and 25th. As a team, the Broncos finished 10th overall.

  • The Broncos' women's golf team finished 19th overall at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on April 4th and 5th. Senior Miki Ueoka shot a one-under par 71 during final round play to finish tied for 33rd.

  • The Broncos' men's and women's golf teams will prepare for the WCC Championships on April 18th and 19th at the San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister, Calif..
  • The Seattle women's golf team placed 14th overall at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on April 4th and 5th.

  • Sophomore Shannon Quinn notched the team's best round of the day, posting a final-round score of 74 (+2) to move up into a tie for 42nd place in the final standings with a cumulative score of 233 (+17).

  • The Redhawks finished sixth at the Cal Poly Lamkin Grip Challenge held at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course on March 24th and 25th. Junior Caitlin McCleary and sophomore Lori Pearson posted identical scores, each shooting 85 (+12) in the second round to finish the tournament in a tie for 17th place with a cumulative score of 162 (+16).

  • 2010-2011 marks the first season that Seattle is an affiliate member in the sport of women's golf as announced by the West Coast Conference in August 2010. Seattle will prepare for the West Coast Conference Championships, to take place April 18-19 at the San Juan Oaks Country Club in Hollister, Calif..
