(St. George, UT) - USF women's golf completed its practice round Wednesday afternoon and is prepared to compete in the sixth NCAA Regional berth in program history, beginning Thursday May 10 at The Entrada at Snow Canyon Country. The Dons will make their sixth postseason appearance in seven years at the par-71, 54-hole event, hosted by BYU.
This tournament marks the first time a NCAA West Regional will be held at the Johnny Miller Signature Golf Course. It challenges the golfers with narrow fairways and holes lined with lava rock.
"The course is a formidable challenge," USF head coach Josh Cupp said. "It's very narrow in places, but I feel we've come up with a very good game plan in how to attack the course. We seem to be swinging well going and we expect plenty from ourselves. Again it's going to be more about our ability to not make mistakes rather than play spectacular golf. I think the team is ready to go."
THE FIELD: The 2007 NCAA West Regional Championship field includes Arizona State, Pepperdine, Florida, Oklahoma State, Brigham Young, Stanford, Denver, New Mexico, UC Irvine, San Jose State, UNLV, San Francisco, Hawaii, California, Idaho, Washington State, Campbell, Nebraska, Memphis, Sacramento State and Columbia-Barnard.
