Pepperdine's Carolina Llano Named Academic All-American

Malibu, Calif. - Senior Carolina Llano, who helped lead the Pepperdinewomen's golf team to a third place showing at the 2006 NCAA Division IChampionships last week, was tabbed an Academic All-American by the NationalGolf Coaches Association (NGCA), it was announced last Friday evening at abanquet honoring student-athletes for their athletic and academic success.

Llano, who also was selected to the West Coast Conference's (WCC)All-Academic Team, placed second on the Waves with a 74.18 stroke average in30 rounds. She posted six Top 20 finishes, including four Top 10s.

In addition to her success on the course, Llano excelled in the classroomdespite participating in a sport that misses significant class time andrequires a minimum 3.5 grade-point average to be eligible for AcademicAll-American. She is majoring in international business and will graduate inDecember.

In Llano's four seasons at Pepperdine, the Waves have finished in the Top 5at the NCAA Championships three times, finishing second (2003), fourth(2005) and third (2004).
