Malibu, Calif. - A highlight show featuring the 2006 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships that was held May 23-26 at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio, will air on The Golf Channel Friday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m.
Pepperdine placed third in the event, marking the Waves sixth Top 10 finish in seven appearances and third consecutive Top 5 showing. Pepperdine placed second in 2003 and fourth in 2005 before finishing third this year.
Top-ranked Duke won its second consecutive NCAA Championships with a 15-over par score of 1,167. USC placed second with a 25-over par score of 1,177 while the Waves finished third with a 35-over par total of 1,187. Arizona State (1,195) was fourth and California (1,200) rounded out the Top 5.
Junior Eileen Vargas, who was honorable mention All-American, led through the first three rounds before tying for fourth with a final 72-hole score of 3-over par 291. Senior All-American Carolina Llano tied for 16th place with an 8-over score of 296.
Pepperdine concluded the year ranked fifth nationally.
In addition to airing Friday evening, the highlight show will also air on Sunday, July 16 (1 a.m.), Monday, July 31 (2 a.m.) and Friday, August 11 (3 a.m.). All times are pacific.
