CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Three Gonzaga University student-athletes - senior Jennifer Swanson, junior Sarah Sheffield and sophomore Lauren Phillips - have been named to the Division I National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50 percent of the college's regularly-scheduled competitive rounds during the year.

Swanson, a native of Eagle, Idaho, graduated with a 3.61 GPA in psychology. She finished 16th at the West Coast Conference Championship last spring.

Sheffield, who hails from Kea'au, HI, has a 3.78 GPA in English. She was 17th in the WCC tourney.

Phillips, from Auburn, Wash., has a 3.74 GPA in Latin American Studies and Spanish. She carried an 85 stroke average in 2007 while seeing limited action but will be called upon to help fill the void left by the graduation of Swanson and Mary Kate Morgan.
